The Mandarin is a playable character in both LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Marvel's Avengers. Born into a wealthy, aristocratic family in communist China, the man who would eventually become known as the Mandarin was thrust into poverty after the death of his parents. However, after discovering a mysterious set of ten mystical rings, the Mandarin began to build a criminal empire under his leadership. Possessed of great combat prowess and bound by a sense of honor, he has frequently served as the archenemy of Iron Man.

The son of British and Mongolian aristocrats who died shortly after he was born, Tem Borjigin squandered his entire inheritance on training in science, military tactics, and mystic martial arts. This bankrupted the family estate, resulting in the Mandarin being rendered homeless. Blaming civilization rather than his own vanity for his misfortune, Mandarin sought a means of revenge, eventually discovering an alien spaceship. He looted the technology he found within, including ten rings which each possessed a different energy-attack. The Mandarin took the rings and began a life as an international terrorist, combating Iron Man and the Avengers frequently as an enemy of peace.

Trivia[]
- In the boss battle with The Mandarin he says "Heroes; there is still no such thing!". This is a reference to Iron Man 3, where Trevor Slattery acting as the Mandarin speaks to America via his cyber terrorist commercials, saying "Heroes; there is no such thing."
- The *Movie* minifigure is based off of Trevor Slattery.
- The Mandarin is the arch-enemy of Iron Man.
